hello everybody, it’s et motovlog! i’m here again with sunny weather. it’s really hot, but i can’t enjoy this weather because i got sick. today, i’m thinking about recording a series. and this video will be first episode of it. it’s about the traffic rules in the city in the usa. maybe i can also record another video, that’s about the rules on highway. but first i wanna talk about the rules that are traffic lights, turning rules in the city.
actually we can configure many existing rules in the usa for turkey. (it’s not configured.) if they’re configured, some traffic issues in the turkey can be fixed. today, i will record a video about turnings. i’m gonna talk some basic rules what you should do at the traffic lights to turn. or what you should do to turn left or right. the most important thing to remember is that pedestrians always have priority in the traffic. it’s the first main rule, which you have to know.
second rule is, when you turn left, you will cut the traffic. it means that cars coming from ahead to you stop because of you. that’s why, you have to wait until the road being clear. for turning right, you join the traffic. if the road is okey, you can turn right even though traffic lights are red. i will give you some examples for that. you have to just know that, if the light is red for you while turning right, you have to completely stop and check for pedestrians. because they have passing priority.
if there is a pedestrian who’re passing the street front of you, you can’t turn right. after waiting for the pedestrian you can turn. joining the existing traffic at the red light while turning right is not available for istanbul. if there’s a new rule after me, i can’t say anything about that. but i remember that there’s a chance to turn right safely in some cities. you can turn when there’s a blicking red arrow to turn right. i’m not %100 sure. but it prevents the heavy traffic. because first you spend time while you’re waiting for the red light.
second there’s a queue at the lights that affects the traffic behind you. now, i’m waiting at the red light. there isn’t no turn right light on red. because of that i can turn right safely. for example, i’m waiting now cars to turn left. now the road’s clear and i’m turning on the red light. i want to explain turning situation at the intersection. you can see that there’s red light for me. cars are turning left.
in the usa, there’s a sensor system at intersections. there are big circles under the asphalt. it changes the light. after cars completed their turning, the red light is turned to green for me. they provide it in the use like that, as i said there are sensors under the asphalt at approximately every lights. sometime there can not be the sensor in crowded places. i don’t know if you can see it. they’re this bright big circles.
now, i’m waiting on the red light. i have to wait. i’m waiting cars and there isn’t any pedestrians around me. if i find a safe turn, i will turn on the red. yes, now the light is red and i’m turning. this sensors that i told you are assembled under the asphalt. it’s used to understand if there’s a waiting car or not. for example after cars turning left, the red light was turned to green immediately. that’s why, you don’t need to wait long time at the traffic light. i think that it must be configured for turkey.(i hope that! i hope that!)
why? you know that especially nights you’re waiting very long time on the red light even though the road is empty. and if you’re a driver who is passing all the rules, “ you have to be like that†you lost your time to wait there for nothing. in this system the light is changed to green for which car’s waiting on the light when the road is empty. you can save your time and most important point is that you can save gas to consume. (the gas price is average $1,20 for a liter in the istanbul.) this sensor works like that. for example car completed its turn.
the light was turned to green for the other side of road. this car’s turning now, and i’m waiting light to turn green. and it’s green now. i want to say something about sensors. it sometimes happens to me. this black circles are sensors. we’re riding motorcycle and they can’t sense you. (of course if you don’t have goldwing or harley road glide !) in this situation you can wait until forever. you usually cross your finger for a car to come behind you. because sensors can sense a car.
i had waited on the same red light for 4 times. it can be annoying. the other subject is that, if there’s no traffic lights at the intersection, how you can pass the intersection. the stop sign that nobody cares is in the turkey is very important in the usa. if you don’t stop, it can be murder. as you see that there is a car at the right hand of the road. and i’m waiting because of the stop sign. first the other car completed its turning.
now it’s my turn. i’m completing my passing and after me the other car that’s waiting at the right side will pass. in the usa cars pass the intersection in a row. so i can’t say that the car front of me passed and i can do that with it because the road is clear. every time just one car can pass. especially there’s a key point at the place where there’s a stop sign. you can’t usually see an accident at intersections. because drivers wait at this stops sign. that’s why the crash risk decreases.
there’s no clear rule to pass. for example you arrived the intersection at the same time with other 4 cars. they’re waiting. usually it works like first in first out. but if it’s not clear, the car that’s waiting on the main road has the priority. also, if two small streets cross, you can check other drivers. ( eye contact) but there’s no risk because every drivers gives you a priority to pass. there is another subject that ’s turning left. if there is no a special green left arrow for you
and it says that you turn on the green light, it means that cars that settle both of sides keep driving. but you have to wait because you will cut the traffic as i said before. i will give an example for that. if there is a special green left arrow for you, you can turn safely. but if you’re making u turn, you should check the sign that shows you if you can make a u turn or not. if there isn’t any sign for that you can not make an u turn, you can always do that. now i’m going to turn left from the light ahead of me.
now the light is green. first i should keep riding in the middle. but you should check for that there mustn’t be double yellow lines. now there’s a green light for both of traffic ways. there’s no special green left arrow. (you have to check there is any pedestrians on your way!) i’m waiting little bit more. now there’s no car that’s coming from ahead. i’m turning now.
another point is that, even though there is no car coming from left side, i have to check right side. we’re doing in turkey that there’s no car coming from left side and i can drive until half of the way. that’s not available in here. because there are cars coming from right side. that’s why you can cut the way for cars coming from left side. you have to wait to join the traffic until both of sides to be clear. there're two signs here. one of them is no u turn sign you can’t make an u turn.
the other one is left turn yield. this means that don’t block the traffic as i said. the other subject is that i’m riding on my lane. if i want to turn left, i have to get the middle. i can’t turn from this lane. you can see that there’s a left arrow. i got that lane. i can’t ride straight. only i can turn left.
i completed my turn. if i kept riding in my existing lane, i couldn’t turn left. (it’s a social message !) if we compare the traffic with turkey, i can say that we’re impatient. (also i’m) we always try to catch the way. if we’re little bit more patient and respect for other drivers, there can be less traffic and accident. this place especially california state is really safe to ride motorcycle. than you for watching.
